Morning Routines
I have never been a morning person. I had a shift that started at 10am once and I STILL rolled in dreaming of my bed. Starting another day is not always easy…
We hear all the time that the way you start your morning sets the tone for the entire day. Aside from eating well and taking vitamins there are other ways we can set ourselves up for success. EVEN those of us who are not natural “morning people.”
For me these are my best tips:
Wake up several hours before I need to
Make sure the kitchen and bathroom are clean
Make sure I have clean clothes (sometimes all the favorites are in the wash at the same time)
Fill the kettle or coffee pot with clean water
By doing this I can:
Move at my own pace, even if that means 2 hour coffee break on the patio
Ensure that I can get up calmly and move through my home with ease
Eliminate anxiety based on poor planning, no favorite clothes/comfy pants etc
Ensure that the coffee can get put on RIGHT AWAY
Find what works for you. If you like slow mornings the trade off is training yourself to wake up earlier.
For my best and final tip- to throw away that alarm clock- is to have a baby.
By having a baby you can ensure that you simply won’t sleep at all and starting your mornings earlier is a peice of cake.
